The application uses the location to record your runs.
Disabling the app from using location services will disable run tracking.

It is used to retrieve data from Nike+ for your runs and it is also required to draw the map.
Lastly, it is used to post your current run data to Nike+.
In some way, it is used by the phone to accuracy pinpoint your location for tracking your run

Media Library
Nike+ Running can lower the music volume during announcements.

Let you activate the screen lock so you can put your phone in your pocket and still use Nike+ Running.
